Loggerhead Instruments: low-power acoustic dataloggers - bioacoustics

About Loggerhead Instruments

Loggerhead Instruments was launched in 2003 by Dr. David Mann when he realized that others could use the instruments he developed for his own research program.

David A. Mann, PhD, President

Dr. Mann has extensive experience in the field of bioacoustics, starting with undergraduate training at Cornell University.  Dr. Mann went on to earn his PhD from the Joint Program in Biological Oceanography at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.  He performed his doctoral work on sound production by Dascyllsus albisella found at Johnston Atoll near Hawaii.  Post-graduate work at the University of Maryland focused on hearing by various fishes.  Several years with the acoustical leader TDT Inc. led to a faculty appointment at the University of South Florida (http://www.marine.usf.edu/bio/fishlab/) where his work continues on hearing and sound production in fishes and marine mammals.

Amy L. Donner, Vice President

Ms. Donner also received an undergraduate degree in biological sciences from Cornell University.  She went on to perform scientific research with a biotechnology company before receiving a Master of Business Administration from Boston University.  Ms. Donner was a fund raiser for the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and the American Institute of Physics before joining Loggerhead Instruments.
