Marine Bioacoustics

Loggerhead Instruments manufactures hardware and software for bioacoustics research.  Our aim is to provide complete solutions that enable the researcher to collect and analyze large amounts of acoustic data. We have over 20 years experience in marine acoustics, and are happy to give advice on all aspects of underwater recording from hydrophone selection to deployment and recovery methods.

DSG Recorder

The DSG is the most compact, lowest power, high-speed underwater recorder commercially available.

Compact - Easy to pack and ship or hand carry

High Capacity Storage: Up to 128 GB (256 GB with the double-wide)

Sample rates up to echolocation frequencies (400 kHz)

Low power (3.3 V) for long deployments

Alkaline D-cells

Rapid assembly and deployment

Flexible recording scheduling

Field upgradeable firmware

Calibrated hydrophone and recorder

Complete systems in PVC (160 m) or Aluminum (2,000 m)

DSG-Ocean

The DSG-Ocean is used for underwater acoustic recording. The system comes complete with a DSG recorder, hydrophone, underwater housing, and 128 GB SD memory card.  Housings are available in either 160-m rated PVC or 2000-m rated anodized aluminum. Hydrophone sensitivity may be specified by user.

DSG-Remora

The DSG-Remora is the animal-borne tag version of the DSG. The Remora has the same acoustic recording capabilities as the DSG, and also includes 3D accelerometers, compass, depth, and temperature sensors. The Remora is housed in a flexible PVC hose which can be customized in length for individual applications.

DSG

The base DSG board available for integration into other housing and hardware designs.

DSG Guarantee

We know how important it is to have working instruments when it is time to deploy in the field.  Thus, each DSG comes with a one year warranty and a replacement policy should you have problems when you are trying to deploy.

Applications

» Autonomous underwater acoustic recorder for invertebrates, fishes, and marine mammal sounds
» Underwater noise monitoring
» Echolocation detector
» Acoustic propagation measurement
